New Norfolk's Martin Cash Pizza to close after 49 years

The owners of the popular New Norfolk Martin Cash Pizza restaurant have revealed the business will close down in the middle of the month.

Current owners Jess and Corey Lane acquired the business in 2020 and after 49 years of trade, will close it on Saturday, May 18th.

“Our building was sold this year and the owners have decided to put a 30 day notice to vacate,” they wrote on social media.

“There [are] no buildings that Martin Cash can move into that are suitable for our needs and if there is, the rent is too much that we can afford.”

Locals have reacted to the news with sadness, with many saying they will miss the “great pizza and friendly customer service”.

“I am beyond sad to read this news. Your pizzas have been a weekly staple in our household for almost 18 years,” one local said.

“Martin Cash is basically part of our family. We will never eat pizza again.”

Jess Lane said she has been working at the store for 20 years, having started at just 15-years-old.

“I have seen this business flourish in all owners from start to finish,” she said.

“We will put a bookmark in this chapter of its life and hopefully we will be able to pick up the book and continue where we left off some other time.”

The pair had been attempting to find a buyer for the business for two months before sharing the news of closure.

Real Commercial records indicate the owner of ‘The Shoe Mart’ building, that houses their High Street shop front, advertised the entire site in late 2023 as opportunity for a buyer to own their “own business or invest in a promising commercial property”.
