Sharp Airlines has struck a deal with Qantas that will make it easier for passengers to reach remote destinations including King Island and Flinders Island off Tasmania.
The one-way interline agreement, which launched today, allows travellers to book connecting flights between the two carriers on a single ticket through Qantas booking systems.
It opens Sharp’s regional Victorian and Tasmanian routes to Qantas customers, adding destinations the national carrier does not serve directly.
“This Qantas interline agreement represents a significant milestone in the 35-year history of Sharp Airlines,” said Sharp chief executive Alistair Dorward.

“By partnering with Qantas, we’re opening up new opportunities for travellers to reach key regional destinations.”
The service is available immediately through travel agents, with online booking via the Qantas website expected within months.

QantasLink chief executive Rachel Yangoyan said the agreement would improve connections to regional Australia.
“This interline agreement reflects our ongoing commitment to regional Australia and will expand access to some of the country’s most unique and remote destinations,” she said.
Sharp operates 23 Metroliner aircraft across five states, carrying passengers, freight and fly-in fly-out workers.
It moves more than 100,000 passengers and 1.5 million kilograms of freight each year from bases in Adelaide, Brisbane, Launceston, Melbourne and Perth.
