A new roundabout in Somerset and traffic lights in Spreyton are among the key upgrades included in the latest federal Black Spot Program.
The nearly $5 million initiative will boost safety at 18 high-risk locations across Tasmania.
Each project was assessed and recommended by the local Tasmanian Black Spot Consultative Panel.
Other projects receiving funding include $400,000 for upgrades to the intersection of Hobart and Talbot roads in Launceston and $30,000 for better fencing and vegetation management at Bakers Beach.
Lyons MP Brian Mitchell said the upgrades will make a difference for all road users.
“As the Chair of the Tasmanian Black Spot Consultative Panel, I’m proud to announce these much-needed safety improvements at sites across our state,” he said.
“These projects have been nominated by members of the public who have gone above and beyond to help identify dangerous locations for funding and have been selected from nominations from those who know our local roads best.”
