Newly restored Kombi destroyed by fire on quiet Kingston street

A newly restored Volkswagen Kombi has gone up in flames on a quiet Kingston street, with fire authorities now investigating the cause of the blaze.

The fire erupted on Olive Place shortly before 5pm, sending police and fire crews rushing to the scene.

Eye witnesses told Pulse that the fire appeared to start from a spark in the vehicle’s motor, catching a curtain alight before spreading.

The vintage vehicle was completely destroyed in the incident despite the rapid response from emergency services.

A Tasmania Fire Service spokesperson told Pulse a formal investigation is now underway to determine the exact cause of the fire.
