The final stage of a major $45 million redevelopment at Mersey Community Hospital has been completed, providing North West residents with expanded medical services.
The hospital’s modernised Outpatients Clinics and Operating Theatres are now fully operational after staged openings that began in July.
Premier Jeremy Rockliff said the upgrade represents a significant improvement to healthcare services in the region.
“The Mersey Community Hospital plays an essential role in delivering healthcare for communities in the North West and these upgrades will allow the hospital to deliver an increased range of services to meet community needs,” Rockliff said.

The centrepiece of the redevelopment is a new Elective Day Surgery Centre, designed to deliver more surgical and endoscopy services to reduce waiting times for North West residents.
Health Minister Jacquie Petrusma highlighted the expanded facilities now available to patients.

“This includes 13 new consulting rooms, six specialist treatment rooms, five dedicated paediatric rooms, a waiting area, as well as a new audiology service and physiotherapy gym,” Petrusma said.
The redevelopment has been implemented in stages, with patients first accessing the new Outpatients Clinics last July, followed by the commissioning of new operating theatres and endoscopy procedure rooms in August.
Recent construction work has focused on supporting infrastructure, including a new Central Sterilising Supply Department with updated equipment, alongside new office spaces and staff areas.
