A man has died after a cement truck veered off the road and crashed into an embankment in Tasmania’s north early this morning.
Emergency services were called to Railton Road at Merseylea around 3am following reports of a single-vehicle crash.
Police say the truck was heading north-west when it failed to negotiate a slight bend, left the road and hit the embankment.
They said members of the public who witnessed the crash stopped to help and called emergency services.
Paramedics treated both the truck driver and passenger at the scene, but the passenger died from his injuries.

The driver was taken to Launceston General Hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening.
Police are investigating the crash and are asking anyone with information or dashcam footage to get in touch.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
