Two former Jacqui Lambie Network MPs have pledged their support to the Tasmanian Government after they were kicked out of the party.
In a statement on Sunday, Rebekah Pentland and Miriam Beswick said they will sign a new deal with the Rockliff Liberal government.
“We are committed to providing the certainty and stability Tasmania deserves,” the pair said.
“We will continue to offer the Rockliff Government supply and confidence.”
“We’ll sign a new agreement with the Premier in the coming days and share that agreement publicly once it’s finalised.”
Pentland and Beswick were let go by the Jacqui Lambie Network on Saturday after reportedly drifting from the party’s values.
Labor leader Dean Winter has pointed the finger at Premier Jeremy Rockliff for the situation, claiming the Liberals have lurched from one crisis to the next.
“Jeremy is a nice guy, but this is getting ridiculous,” Winter said.
“He took Tasmania to an election more than a year early saying it was about restoring stability and certainty.”
“He failed to deliver and will now need to negotiate with even more cross benchers.”
Minister Felix Ellis said the Premier has “reached out” to both Pentland and Beswick and will continue “working through” the future with them.
“I know that they’ve got a strong commitment to ensuring certainty and stability for Tasmanian businesses and the community,” he said.
“And so we’ll continue to work with them productively on the things that matter for Tasmanians.”
