Its popular waterslide will be back in action from November 1 following maintenance, while the free First Basin Swimming Pool at Cataract Gorge is also scheduled to open the same day.

The Lilydale Swimming Pool will follow on December 1.

Mayor Matthew Garwood said council crews were working hard to get the facilities ready.

“We’re expecting a bumper summer of swimming and you’ll see our crews working in the weeks ahead … to ensure our pools are ready for action,” he said.

Over the next fortnight, workers will be cleaning, painting and servicing pumps and filtration systems across all three sites.

Preparation at the First Basin will begin in mid-October, with daily openings to depend on the weather.

The aquatic centre’s children’s play area will also undergo an upgrade between October 13 and 26.

All three pools will be patrolled by qualified lifeguards throughout summer.
