Over 2,300 regain power in Burnie as crews investigate unknown outage cause

Power has been restored to more than 2,300 homes and businesses in Burnie after a large-scale blackout earlier this morning.

The outage, which affected areas including Montello, Park Grove and Acton, began around 10am on Friday.

A TasNetworks spokesperson said a “remote re-close attempt” by line crews was successful and restored power.

They said this suggested “something may have temporarily contacted and tripped the relevant line”, causing the outage.

The cause of the power cut is still unknown.
