Overnight fire guts block of four units in Berriedale, investigation underway

A block of four units in Hobart’s northern suburbs has been extensively damaged in an overnight fire.

Firefighters were called to the Maroni Road property in Berriedale just after 5am on Thursday after receiving reports of multiple units on fire.

Crews from Glenorchy, Hobart and Bridgewater found three units well alight upon arrival, with neighbours reporting hearing loud bangs and smoke alarms going off.

It is believed at least two of the units were vacant at the time of the fire.

No injuries have been reported, authorities say.

Fire investigators will remain at the scene to determine the cause of the blaze.
