A man has been left with “serious internal injuries” and another has been charged with causing grievous bodily harm after an assault in Launceston’s northern suburbs overnight.
Police say officers were called to reports of a disturbance at an address on Hargrave Crescent in Mayfield shortly after 8pm on Tuesday, where they found the seriously injured man.
He was quickly transported to Launceston General Hospital by ambulance for treatment.
The full extent and exact cause of his injuries have not yet been released.
Later on Tuesday night, a 31-year-old man was arrested and charged with causing grievous bodily harm, possessing a dangerous weapon and minor drug offences.
It is believed that the injuries resulted from an altercation at the Hargrave Crescent address, with Police asking anyone who may have witnessed the two males in the area yesterday to come forward with information.
