A person has died after a tree fell on their car at Forth in Tasmania’s north-west this afternoon, the third road fatality in the state since Friday morning.
Emergency services were called to Wilmot Road just after 1pm on Saturday, where they found two people trapped in the vehicle.
One person died at the scene. The other was treated by paramedics before being airlifted to hospital.
Police say the tree came down amid wild weather sweeping through the region.
The road has been closed while crash investigators examine the scene.

It is expected to stay shut between River Forth in the north and Paloona in the south for some time.
Police have warned drivers to exercise extreme caution in areas affected by poor weather, with fallen trees and debris creating hazardous conditions on many roads.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
