Person seriously injured in crash between truck and car at Exeter

Update: Preliminary investigations indicate the driver of a red Suzuki hatch has pulled out of a business car park to turn right and has been struck by a yellow Fuso Canter delivery truck which was travelling north on Main Rd.

The female driver of the Suzuki was taken to the Launceston General Hospital with serious injuries. The male driver of the truck was not physically injured.

The road was closed for four hours to allow crash investigators to examine the scene and conduct inquiries. Police have thanked motorists for their patience and understanding.

Earlier: A person has suffered serious injuries following a crash between a truck and a car north of Launceston this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the collision on Main Road in Exeter near the chemist before 3pm on Tuesday.

Police say the person, who was an occupant of one of the vehicles, is in a serious condition, but no other injuries have been reported.

The road is currently closed in both directions between Frankford Road and Gravelly Beach Road while investigations continue.

Motorists are advised to approach the area with caution or seek an alternate route if possible.
