Updated, 5:25pm Wednesday: Police say one lane of the Midland Highway South Launceston is closed between Howick and Frankland Streets.
Motorists are asked to avoid the area until further notice, delay their travel if possible, or take an alternative route.
Earlier: A motorcyclist has been seriously injured following a crash on Wellington Street in Launceston today.
Emergency services rushed to the scene where paramedics are currently treating the injured rider.

Motorists travelling into Launceston are experiencing delays as the partial road closure impacts traffic flow on one of the city’s main arterial routes.
Tasmania Police are asking drivers to avoid the Wellington Street area if possible and to seek alternative routes into the city centre.
