Updated – Wednesday, 4:40pm: Police say they received a report earlier today of a light aircraft potentially in trouble near Upper Esk.
Searches have now been suspended after failing to locate anything to suggest an aircraft was in trouble.
“Inquiries have not identified any aircraft in the area,” police said.
“Police would still like to hear from anyone who may have been flying in the area, or from anyone who knows of anyone who was flying in the area about midday on Wednesday. Please call police on 131 444.”

Tasmania Police are seeking information on the light aircraft that will confirm the welfare of those onboard.
The aircraft was reportedly flying in the area around midday today.
Authorities say there are no safety concerns for the wider public.
The search is focused on the Upper Esk area, a remote region in Tasmania’s northeast near Ben Lomond approximately 65 kilometres from Launceston.
“Anyone who may have been flying a plane in the area or knows of someone flying in the area today should contact police on 131 444,” police said.
