Police charge 32-year-old with hooning after Scamander burnouts

A man from the east coast has been charged with hooning and evading police following an incident in Scamander over the weekend.

St Helens Police were called to reports of a person doing “significant burnouts” on Scamander Avenue in the early hours on Sunday June 23.

Upon arrival, officers found a white Toyota utility parked in the middle of the road and a man they say was running away on foot.

The 32-year-old from was arrested nearby a short time later.

Inspector Luke Manhood said the man was charged with evading police and hooning offences.

He was bailed to appear in court at a later date.

“Hooning and dangerous driving behaviour will not be tolerated,” Manhood said.
