Police deploy helicopter in hunt for ‘suspicious’ fleeing vehicle in Kingston

A large-scale police operation has been launched in the Kingston area after an allegedly stolen vehicle failed to stop for officers.

The dark green Subaru Forester with roof racks and registration FJ5665 was last seen on Taronga Road in Bonnet Hill around 2pm on Wednesday.

A police spokesperson said the vehicle failed to stop for officers “following reports of a suspicious vehicle in the area”.

“Police resources including the Westpac Rescue Helicopter have been deployed to the area and are currently searching for two males and a female wearing dark coloured clothing,” the spokesperson said.

“Police are following a specific line of enquiry.”

At 5pm, police said the rescue helicopter had returned to base.

They said officers on the ground were continuing to search for a “male person of interest”.

“A male and a female were last seen on foot in the Huntingfield area, while another man was last seen driving a dark green Subaru Forester.”

The spokesperson urged anyone with information to call police on 131 444 and quote the incident number ESCAD:210-04122024.
