A police funeral to honour Constable Keith Anthony Smith will be held in Devonport next Friday, following his tragic death in an incident at North Motton on Monday.
The service, scheduled for 1pm on June 27, will commemorate Constable Smith’s 25 years of dedicated service with Tasmania Police.
Tasmania Police Commissioner Donna Adams described Smith’s death as “a traumatic and tragic event” that has shocked both the police force and broader community.
“This week has been an incredibly difficult time for our Tasmania Police family, with the death of our respected and committed colleague, Constable Keith Smith,” Adams said.

“Keith served with unwavering dedication and integrity, and his legacy will not be forgotten.”
The commissioner said the personal impact of the loss has been felt throughout the force.

“For many Tasmania Police officers, Keith was more than a colleague – he was a friend, a mentor, and a true embodiment of what it means to serve,” she said.
At the family’s request, the funeral will be restricted to family, friends, invited guests and police personnel only.
Members of the public are being asked to respect the family’s wishes for privacy and not attend the service itself.
However, community members will have an opportunity to pay their respects by observing the guard of honour and funeral procession immediately following the service.

Police have indicated that specific details about times and locations for public observation will be provided at a later date.
