A pedestrian is recovering in hospital after being hit by a car whose driver fled the scene in Launceston this morning.
The incident happened around 9:45 am on Treherne Street in Mayfield, where a silver Subaru Liberty struck the pedestrian and failed to stop.
Emergency services were called to the scene and took the pedestrian to hospital with “non-life-threatening” injuries.
Police have since located and seized the vehicle involved in the crash at Rocherlea, but are still working to identify the driver who was behind the wheel at the time of the incident.

Officers are now appealing for assistance to help track down the driver.
“Anyone with information that would assist the investigation is asked to phone police on 131 444 and quote ESCAD 104-28052025,” police said.
“Information can also be provided through Crime Stoppers.”
