A woman is in a serious but stable condition after being struck by a vehicle in Moonah in an apparent hit-and-run incident overnight.
Emergency services were called to Charles Street just before 1am on Monday after reports of a pedestrian being hit by a vehicle.
Upon arrival, police discovered the woman seriously injured while the vehicle involved had already fled the scene.
The victim was rushed to the Royal Hobart Hospital where she remains under medical care.
Tasmanian Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash and are appealing for public assistance.

Authorities are particularly interested in any dash cam footage from vehicles that were in the Charles Street area shortly before 1am.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could assist police is urged to come forward.
