Police are investigating an alleged violent altercation between two women in a Tasmanian supermarket carpark yesterday.
The incident took place on Wednesday morning in the Woolworths Upper Burnie carpark in-front of stunned shoppers.
Police confirmed the incident in a statement to Pulse and said officers were called to the scene around 11:20am.
They said the disturbance was between two people who are “known to each other”.
“A 41-year-old woman received non-life-threatening injuries as a result of the incident,” a spokesperson told Pulse.
They say the alleged offender had already left the scene by the time the officers arrived.
“Police are following a specific of line of inquiry in relation to the alleged assault.”
Witnesses claim one woman repeatedly punched and assaulted the other as she laid on the concrete.
Charges are yet to be laid and any potential witnesses are urged to contact Burnie police at 131 444 or provide information anonymously through Crime Stoppers.
