A Meander Valley man is facing animal cruelty and firearms charges after a bull was allegedly shot and killed at an event in Gladstone earlier this month.
The incident on November 2 at the Gladstone Hotel Rodeo in the state’s north-east prompted an investigation by police.
After the event, a spectator told Pulse the “very horrible” shooting happened when the bull broke its leg.
The witness alleged the animal was “shot with a hand gun” in front of the crowd and removed from the arena on the back of a truck.
Police did not provide details on the specifics, but said enquiries had led to the execution of a search warrant at a local property yesterday morning.
As a result of the Friday raid, over 30 firearms were seized.
Police said the 34-year-old man will be summonsed to court on multiple charges.
A second 62-year-old man from the area will also face charges related to firearms offences.
Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
