Tasmania Police say they will maintain a high-visibility presence throughout the four-day Party in the Paddock festival, which kicks off today at Quercus Park.
The annual music festival will see increased police operations both on-site and on surrounding roads.
Inspector Craig Fox said officers would be focusing on creating a safe environment for all attendees.
“This is a family friendly event and we want everyone to have an enjoyable and safe festival,” Fox said.
Festival-goers are being reminded to drink responsibly and be mindful of others while enjoying the entertainment.
“For anyone consuming alcohol, please do so responsibly, look after your mates, and be respectful of others,” Fox said.
Police operations will extend beyond the festival grounds, with increased traffic management and road safety efforts planned throughout the duration of the event.
New weapon detecting wands will also be in use to locate dangerous objects like knives.
Motorists are being warned to expect potential delays when travelling to and from the venue.
“Police will again be conducting traffic management to and from the festival site and ask motorists to be patient, particularly if traffic is congested,” Fox said.
As the festival concludes, police will implement extensive random breath testing operations targeting drivers leaving the site.
“Our aim is to get everyone home safely and that includes testing drivers and removing those affected by alcohol and drugs from the roads.”
