Police recover stolen vehicle in Rose Bay shooting investigation

Police have recovered a white Volkswagen Golf allegedly stolen during a targeted shooting in Rose Bay last week, as investigators renew calls for public assistance.

The vehicle was found unattended on Cadbury Road in Claremont on Sunday, two days after the violent incident that left a man with gunshot wounds to his hand.

Detectives believe the October 24 attack was targeted, with a masked offender allegedly shooting the victim before stealing his car at Rosny Hill.

“During the incident, the man’s vehicle – a white Volkswagen Golf with registration L59PA – was allegedly stolen by the offenders who were wearing balaclavas,” a police spokesperson said.

The man then exited the vehicle on Ronnie Street in Rose Bay, where he sought assistance from nearby residents.

Tasmania Police are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting and subsequent theft, with South East Criminal Investigation Branch detectives leading the case.

Police are urging anyone with information about the incident or the alleged offenders to come forward.
