Tasmania Police is urging the public to come forward with information as the investigation into former officer Dale Cook continues to progress.

The investigation, launched in February, aims to determine whether Cook abused his position as a police officer to commit child sexual abuse or other criminal offences during his employment with Tasmania Police.

Acting Deputy Commissioner Rob Blackwood said investigators have already spoken with numerous individuals who worked with Cook or knew him outside his policing role.

“The investigation team sincerely thanks each person that has come forward to provide information, either in person or through the reporting options provided below,” Blackwood said.

“Every piece of information has been of value and will inform the outcomes of the investigation.”

The investigation remains active with several lines of inquiry still being pursued under the oversight of the Integrity Commission.

“There are several avenues of enquiry outstanding, and the investigation team continues to work with oversight from the Integrity Commission to identify other criminal offending or misconduct during Cook’s employment with Tasmania Police,” Blackwood said.

Recognising the sensitive nature of the investigation, police have established multiple confidential reporting channels for those wishing to provide information.

These include direct email contact via [email protected], an online form allowing anonymous submissions, reports through Tasmania Police Professional Standards portal, and arrangements for confidential in-person meetings.

“The specialist investigation team recognises the need to offer choice and confidentiality to anyone wanting to provide information,” Blackwood added.
