Updated 7:55pm, Sunday: A 63-year-old man has died after a crash on the Tasman Highway near Triabunna this afternoon.
Emergency services raced to the scene at the intersection of the Tasman Highway and Green Hills Road around 2:10pm.
Police say initial inquiries indicate the man was a rear passenger in a black Honda CRV travelling north when the vehicle veered off the road and crashed into a tree.
The remaining three occupants of the vehicle were treated for non-life threatening injuries.
“Our thoughts are with the man’s family and loved ones. A report will be prepared for the coroner,” a police spokesperson said.

Earlier: Emergency services have rushed to the scene of a serious crash on Tasmania’s east coast.
The collision occurred at the intersection of the Tasman Highway and Green Hills Road north of Triabunna, with police and emergency crews currently attending the scene.
Tasmania Police have issued an urgent advisory for motorists to avoid the area if possible.
“Traffic flow is affected and police are requesting that members of the public avoid the area, if possible, to allow the safe transit of emergency vehicles,” a police spokesperson said.
Authorities have not yet released details about the number of vehicles involved or any injuries sustained.
