Police are searching Hobart’s northern suburbs for a vehicle that allegedly evaded officers during a routine traffic stop in the Bridgewater area this morning.
Tasmania Police said there was an “increased police presence” in the Bowen Bridge and East Derwent Highway areas as of Thursday afternoon.
Road spikes have been set up at several locations, including Claremont and on the Brooker Highway approaching Bridgewater, according to witness reports.
“Police are seeking to locate a vehicle of interest, following an earlier evade police incident,” police said in a statement.

Police have not provided details about the vehicle.
Motorists in the area have been told to follow police directions and allow for possible delays.
“Motorists should comply with police instructions and are advised of the potential for some slight delays in certain areas due to traffic operations,” police said.
