Police searching for two vehicles in $15,000 theft investigation

A trio accused of stealing over $15,000 worth of property across Southern Tasmania in the past month has been arrested and charged.

So far, police have only recovered approximately $3,000 of the allegedly stolen gear.

Police allege a 24-year-old man from Glenorchy is responsible for 24 thefts and one assault, while a 26-year-old woman from the same suburb is believed to have committed eight thefts and a charge of unlawful possession.

A third person, a 29-year-old man, has been charged with a single theft offence.

The Glenorchy pair will appear before the Hobart Magistrates Court today.

As part of the ongoing investigation, police are searching for a silver Kia Rio hatchback with the registration C34LF and a fawn/gold Toyota Camry sedan with the registration J42LN.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at crimestopperstas.com.au,” a spokesperson said.

“Information can be provided anonymously.”
