Police have seized a “significant amount” of crystallised GHB and methamphetamine after stopping a car in Launceston on Sunday night.
Officers on patrol intercepted a vehicle in Kings Meadows at about 9:15pm and searched it.
Inside, they allegedly found a large quantity of crystallised GHB, a bottle of liquid GHB and several small amounts of methamphetamine in snap-lock bags.
The driver, a 35-year-old northern Tasmanian man, was the only person in the car.
He has since been charged with trafficking in a controlled substance, along with several other drug and traffic-related offences.
The man was granted bail and is due to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court on January 14.
“Tasmania Police is committed to reducing the negative impact that illicit drugs have in the community,” a spokesperson said.
“If you are aware of someone involved in the production or distribution of illicit drugs contact police on 131 444.”
