Police believe a “feud” may be responsible for a shooting that left a 31-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his chest and face.
The man was reported injured at a United service station in Hobart’s northern suburbs shortly before 5pm on Saturday.
Inspector Darren Latham said police are yet to identify a suspect.
“We’re working on the presumption that it is [a targeted attack], based on the investigation so far,” he said.
“We understand there may be a feud that’s going on … We’re not suggesting that there’s someone out there causing harm to other people.”
Police cordoned off a number of roads in the Herdsmans Cove area following the shooting, which Latham said is thought to have occurred on Calvert Crescent.
He said the victim managed to make his way to Aloomba Place before being driven by car to the United service station in Lutana.
Paramedics transported him to the Royal Hobart Hospital, where he underwent surgery overnight.
Police are now appealing to the public for any information that could assist their investigation.
