Police warn of large shark spotted near south-east Tasmanian beach

A large shark, estimated to be approximately 4.5 metres in length, has been sighted just offshore at Primrose Sands in Tasmania’s south-east.

Tasmania Police issued a community alert on Sunday afternoon warning beachgoers of the shark.

The shark was observed between 50 and 100 metres off Renard Point at the eastern end of the beach.

Anyone who spots sharks near Tasmanian beaches is encouraged to report sightings to police.
