Premier Jeremy Rockliff’s approval ratings have taken a significant hit, with new polling showing Tasmanian voters are souring on the Liberal government just months after its re-election.
The latest EMRS survey shows the Liberals have dropped four percentage points to 34% since August, while the Greens have surged four points to 17%.
Labor has made only modest gains, up one point to 25%, with support for independents unchanged at 19%.
Rockliff’s personal favourability has plummeted from plus 18 to -1, while Labor leader Josh Willie sits at -4.

“These numbers suggest that Premier Rockliff’s post-election honeymoon may be over,” EMRS managing director Mary Massina said.
However, she said the results suggested the Liberals would still win if an election were held today.

“With most of the gains going to the Greens and the Labor vote continuing to languish in the mid-20s, an election now would likely see the re-election of the Liberals,” she said.
The poll of 1,000 Tasmanians found health was the top concern at 18%, followed by the controversial stadium proposal at 17% and cost of living at 11%.
Treasurer Eric Abetz’s interim budget received a net rating of -19, making it the best-received state budget since EMRS began the series in 2024.
Guy Barnett’s May budget scored -21, while Michael Ferguson’s 2024 budget rated -23.

The survey was conducted between November 17 and 21 using telephone and online interviews, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points.
Due to a coding error, EMRS said no preferred premier ratings were included in this survey.
