A young driver on his P-plates from Railton has had his car clamped for the next four weeks after being caught speeding at more than 50km/h above the limit earlier this week.

The 17-year-old was clocked racing down Railton Road at 151km/h in a 100km/h zone at around 9pm on Monday night.

Sergeant Jeremy Williams from Latrobe Police said the teenager’s car will stay clamped for 28 days and he will face court in Devonport at a later date.

“Police would like to remind the community that we are committed to keeping our roads safe for all road users,” Williams said.

“Dangerous driving, including high range speeding, will not be tolerated.”

“If you witness dangerous or hooning vehicles, please report to police to enable us to investigate promptly to remove unsafe drivers from our roads.”
