Residents in Tasmania’s north have reported hearing a “massive explosion” that shook their homes on Sunday evening.
The bang was reported just after 5pm in Squeaking Point, with a bushfire then igniting in the Milldam Road area shortly after.

The Tasmania Fire Service have since issued a “monitor conditions” warning for Jasmine Drive area in Port Sorell.
“There is no immediate threat,” the TFS advised.
“The fire is under control. Conditions are expected to improve.”
“If you have a bushfire plan, check it now.”
The cause of the fire is not yet known.
