Roads across Tassie have been feeling the heat this week – with some ‘melting’ after several days of constant sun.

RoadsTas say some roads on the West Coast are becoming “sticky in sections” after a week of direct, hot sun and warn the roads may deteriorate further.

“In the meantime, we are regularly inspecting the road to make sure it is safe and putting gravel down where needed, which will help increase the grip of the surface.”

They say traffic management will be deployed to damaged areas if it’s needed, but ask drivers to slow down and drive to the conditions.

One member of a West Coast Road Conditions Facebook group said driving through Rosebery was ‘like driving through water’.

“My tires were making a slushing type sound as if they were going through water.”

RoadsTas ask anyone who spots any hazards on the State road network to contact them, 24/7, on 1300 139 933.
