Rowan Cooke has been elected to King Island Council in a by-election triggered by the resignation of former councillor Duncan McFie.
Cooke emerged victorious after multiple rounds of counting, surpassing fellow candidates Joseph Daniel and Stefan Hollander.

Daniel was eliminated during the second count, with his votes redistributed among the two remaining contenders.
Cooke ultimately secured 486 votes, or 58.77% of the total formal votes, surpassing Hollander’s 341 votes.
He will serve on the council until the next ordinary election in 2026.
McFie resigned in August amid charges related to alleged child exploitation material possession.
