Two escaped horses have been seen galloping through the main road of Margate, south of Hobart, this afternoon.
Footage captured the dramatic scene around 12:30pm as the horses bolted down the Channel Highway and around the roundabout near the BP service station, with their lead ropes trailing behind them.
The horses, which appeared to have unseated their riders, were filmed by shocked motorists as they made their way through the centre of the town.
One horse was seen with an empty saddle as it bolted down the road.

A Kingborough Council spokesperson confirmed the incident had been resolved quickly, with the horses owners being located and the animals having been restrained.
It is unclear how the horses became separated from their riders or where they had originally come from .

Tasmania Police provided advice for motorists who encounter similar situations on the road.
“If motorists see a hazard on the road, they are urged to drive safely, pull over to a stop, and report to police on 131 444 or Triple Zero (000) in an emergency,” a spokesperson told Pulse.
