While thousands of runners pounded the pavement for the 42nd Cadbury Marathon this morning, one competitor took the opportunity to break an unusual world record.
Mainlander Dan Camac, smashed the unofficial record for the fastest marathon time while wearing Crocs, completing the 42-kilometre course in two hours and 49 minutes.
“I was have a look on the website at different marathon records to break and I saw the Crocs one and I thought, ‘okay, I reckon I could do that’,” the South Australian told 7 Tasmania.
“I’m definitely not doing another marathon in Crocs.”
The marathon race was won by mainland runner Fraser Darcy in under two hours, while local Toby Sparks came in second for the second year in a row.
Over 2,000 people took part in the marathon, with many opting for the shorter half, 10km or 5km distances.
Young Paddy Wise won the mini marathon.
