Sam Siggins named Tassie’s best State League player

Lauderdale’s Sam Siggins has won his third Alastair Lynch Medal as the best player in Tasmania’s State League.

Siggins finished on 23 votes, five ahead of Ben Simpson from North Launceston and Baxter Norton from Clarence.

He had a slow start to the season but put together a strong finish with five best-on-ground performances in the final three games.

He was also named the Lefroy Medallist for Tasmania’s player of the match in a representative clash against Queensland.

Other winners on the night included Josh Rickard from North Launceston, who won the Rodney Eade Medal for the development league’s best player.

Alex Lee and Jack Avent from North Launceston were named life members of the competition.

Blake Waight from Glenorchy was named the Matthew Richardson Medallist as the competition’s best young player.
