A seal has caused traffic chaos on the Midland Highway near Bridgewater, just days after another sighting on a nearby road.
The animal was spotted sitting in a lane of the busy highway near the Bridgewater roundabout on Saturday morning, forcing motorists to slow down and stop.
Tasmania Police issued a warning just before 11am urging drivers to slow down and exercise caution.
“Members of the public are also advised against approaching the seal and urged to avoid the area until the scene is cleared,” police said.

Videos of the animal on the highway have since circulated on social media.
It’s believed to be the same seal that was found on a road near the Brighton Industrial Hub on Tuesday.

A motorist came across the animal while leaving the Bridgewater Quarry.
Police attended both incidents.
The seal is thought to have made its way into the area via the Jordan River, which flows through the region before joining the River Derwent.
Tasmania Police reminded anyone who encounters a marine mammal in distress to contact the Marine Conservation Program hotline on 0427 942 537.
