Tasmania Police say the search for a missing couple and their light aircraft will be reviewed today, nearly a week after they disappeared without a trace.

72-year-old Gregory Vaughan and his partner Kim Worner, 66, went missing over the weekend after taking off from George Town in the state’s north.

The pair were heading to the mainland on Saturday but never arrived.

Since then, a Tasmania Police helicopter has spent days scouring the coastline between Bridport and Turners Beach.

Searches have so far turned up no sign of the two-seater plane.

“This matter is now part of an active investigation and no further comment will be provided on specific details,” police said on Thursday morning.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the aircraft or has knowledge of its movements to come forward.

People along Tasmania’s northern coast are also urged to report any unusual debris or wreckage.
