Search intensifies for missing teen with autism on Tasmania’s east coast

Earlier: Police have stepped up their search for a missing 19-year-old with autism from Tasmania’s east coast, who has not been seen since Monday evening.

Tasman Watts from St Helens was last spotted in Scamander around 6.55pm on Monday, with authorities expressing increasing concern for his welfare.

CCTV footage captured him buying a quantity of alcohol, but his family say he is not a big drinker.

Police believe Watts may be travelling in a light blue Toyota Kluger with the registration F30NC.

The teenager was last seen wearing blue jeans and an olive green hooded jumper with a dark coloured top underneath.

Family members say Watts has autism and strongly prefers routine in his daily activities, including regular drives to Launceston for McDonald’s.

Police are urging the public to remain vigilant, while family of Watts have launched a public spreadsheet online for people to add locations which have been searched.
