Last year’s winner Majok Deng followed previous champions Milton Doyle and Jack McVeigh, who claimed the honour twice in a row.

JackJumpers general manager of basketball operations Darren Smith said fans had their work cut out for them in choosing a favourite player after the season delivered incredible highs alongside some challenging setbacks.

“We’ve seen some unbelievable performances by the team, including our Captain Will Magnay’s career best game before his devastating foot injury,” Smith said.

“The silver lining to our injuries is the valuable court time opportunities it’s given some of our younger players including Kobe Williamson, Brody Nunn and Archie Woodhill,” he said.

Local Tasmanian players had also benefited from increased playing time in the NBL.
