Girl, 14, suffers serious head injury in Risdon Vale e-scooter crash

A 14-year-old girl is in a serious condition with a head injury after her e-scooter was hit by a car in Hobart’s northern suburbs.

The teenager was riding near the intersection of Marlock and Laurel streets in Risdon Vale when the collision occurred at 7:20pm on Tuesday.

Nearby residents rushed to help the injured girl before paramedics arrived at the scene.

She was transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital, police said.

The driver of the vehicle, an 18-year-old man on his P1 provisional licence, was “not physically injured”, according to police.

He is “assisting police with the investigation”.

Police said initial investigations suggest the driver’s “manner of driving” was not a contributing factor to the crash.

The exact circumstances of how the collision occurred remain under investigation.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage or CCTV from the area to come forward.
