Two young males are in hospital with serious injuries following a moped crash in Hobart’s northern suburbs on Friday afternoon.
The incident occurred on Main Road in Austins Ferry at approximately 1.45pm when the moped collided with a pedestrian safety barrier.
Both the rider and pillion passenger were rushed to the Royal Hobart Hospital, with authorities reporting the passenger is in a critical condition while the rider suffered serious injuries.

Tasmania Police have confirmed no other vehicles or people were involved in the crash.
Main Road remains closed as crash investigators examine the scene and conduct further inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Local traffic has been diverted while the investigation continues, with police thanking the community for their patience during the road closure.
Authorities are appealing for public assistance as they work to determine what caused the moped to strike the safety barrier.
