Tasmanians are in for a windy few days as a cold front brings destructive gusts of up to 120km/h across much of the state.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning for damaging northwesterly winds expected to develop from late Sunday night.
Most areas will see sustained winds of 60 to 70km/h with gusts around 100km/h.
Exposed elevated areas in the south could cop winds averaging 70 to 80km/h with gusts reaching 120km/h.
“Damaging northwesterly winds … are likely to develop over central and eastern parts of the state from late tonight,” the bureau said.

The warning covers the Central Plateau and parts of seven other forecast districts, taking in areas around Hobart, Kingston, Bothwell and Geeveston.
Winds should ease during Monday afternoon but may pick up again from Monday evening into Tuesday, the BOM says.
The strong winds are being driven by a broad cold front moving across the state.
