Thousands of LEGO enthusiasts have flocked to the opening of Tasmania’s first official LEGO store in Hobart today.
Some dedicated fans camping out before sunrise to secure their spot at the front of the queue.
Lines stretched up Collins Street throughout the day as shoppers waited patiently for their chance to explore the flagship store, one of the largest LEGO outlets in Australia and New Zealand.
Located on the corner of Collins and Elizabeth streets in the former Rivers building, the store has transformed a heritage-listed 1917 structure into the 23rd LEGO Certified Store across Australia and New Zealand.

The store features distinctive Tasmanian touches, including large-scale lego models of Tasmanian devils an a mosaic of the Hobart waterfront with Kunanyi/Mount Wellington based off a picture by local photographer Deni Cupit.
LEGO’s Asia Pacific Director Collin Johns said the Hobart location would be “more than a retail outlet” for the island state.

“It will be a creative hub for the community, offering hands-on play experiences, interactive displays and events that encourage learning and family connection,” Johns said.
“We deeply respect Hobart’s unique heritage character and have worked to ensure our design harmonises with the surrounding environment while meeting our global brand standards,” Johns said.
