A north-west toilet block has been partially closed indefinitely after vandals set parts of the facility on fire, causing extensive damage.

The Central Coast Council said this week that the men’s toilets at Legion Park in Ulverstone will stay shut for now.

“Acts of vandalism impact our whole community,” a council spokesperson said.

“They not only reduce the services available but also divert funds away from maintaining and building new facilities.”

Photos released by the council show charred debris covering the floor inside a cubicle, with burn marks on the walls and a melted light fitting hanging from the ceiling.

The council confirmed the women’s toilets at Legion Park remain open to the public.

There is no timeline yet for when the men’s toilets will reopen.
