Detective Acting Inspector Jason Jones said officers arrived to find the 42-year-old victim had been stabbed in the chest.

A 27-year-old man was arrested at the scene. He was charged with murder late on Wednesday night.

The suspected murder weapon, a folding knife, was located and seized following the incident.

“We don’t believe it’s drug-related and we’re looking into the family violence side of things,” Jones said.

“Both males were known to each other and there was a female at the residence plus three teenage youths [at the time].”

He said the alleged offender and the victim were both known to police.

“[The male offender[ arrived at the house and entered the house and that’s when an altercation took place,” he said.

“The female resident of the house contacted emergency services.”

He said the incident was “isolated” and the wider community “shouldn’t be concerned”.

“Police and emergency service responded quickly and the offender was taken into custody,” Jones said.
