The offenders then kicked one of the victims in the ribs and struck the other in the jaw.

After the initial attack, the gang members fled the scene in a ute with interstate plates before returning to the Rooke Street Mall about 20 minutes later, where the same two victims were present with their friends.

“The offenders then assaulted the two men again, as well as their friends, leaving six people with injuries,” a Police spokesperson said.

“Two people were knocked unconscious, and four of the six victims were taken to hospital with various injuries.”

The offenders, who were “quickly identified” as interstate OMCG members, fled the scene following the incident.

Western District Commander Stuart Wilkinson said the gang members were on notice.

“Tasmania is a safe place, and we will not stand for the violence and sheer thuggery witnessed during these assaults on the weekend.”
